The world’s largest digital camera is ready to investigate the dark universe

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory will soon begin its decade-long Legacy Survey of Space and Time, or LSST, monitoring the entire Southern Hemisphere sky thousands of times. A mission this large requires a camera of equal magnitude.

Fortunately, the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is available to provide just that. SLAC scientists and engineers have officially completed the LSST camera, the largest digital camera ever built, for Rubin’s pioneering 10-year research.
